For the official remake of popular Hollywood film “Bride Wars” in Hindi, a leading Hollywood studio is on lookout for two Bollywood actresses.

The names in the list include Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Sonam, Asin, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.

The Hollywood film starred Anne Hathway and Kate Hudson.

The remake project is being given to Shrishti Behl, sister of director Goldie Behl.

The film will show a big fat Punjabi wedding with lots of drama and fun.

What will be interesting to look out for is the pairing in the movie.

Can we consider Kareena and Priyanka together? No way, they don’t even like to see each other’s face.

Deepika and Sonam? They might end up discussing Ranbir more than the movie.

Katrina and Asin? Katrina will be more like a watchdog keeping an eye on Asin’s moves towards Salman!

Saif first home production sans Bebo

Poor Saif Ali Khan. His first home production, Love Aaj Kal, is almost ready for release.

And instead of asking him what it feels like to join the ranks of Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan as actor-producer in Bollywood, people want to know why he took Deepika Padukone in the film instead of, well, Kareena Kapoor — naturally! Not that Deepika and he don’t look good together.

“We do, in fact we suit each other well on screen, and I was happy working with her,” Saif said defensively. “But, yes, on a personal level I missed Kareena... it would have been great to have her in my first film, she knows how I feel about this because we have talked about it.”

The story goes that he was shooting Tashan with Kareena and just getting to know her when Imtiaz Ali came to discuss Love Aaj Kal with Saif. Kareena had done Jab We Met with the director and encouraged Saif to work with him.

“For various reasons in the script, a love story sounded good for my first film, but Bebo and I were just seeing each other,” he said. “Today it’s different, so much has changed, and we are practically married. Also, as actors we support each other — we know how much our careers mean, we are now family. But back then I had to make a choice.

And I was disturbed. Be true to the profession or my personal life? Some decisions you make from the head, some from the heart, some from mixed up emotions. Imtiaz helped me to think like a producer. And when I asked Bebo, who was shooting with Shah Rukh and Aamir, if it was okay to go with Deepika, she said fine. But... I missed her.”

He is too much of a gentleman to get into comparisons between Kareena and Deepika... but Saif as a producer is happy with the performance his leading lady gave him in Love Aaj Kal. “It’s a new kind of love story — of the 1960s and also the MTV generation, touching and with an edge, funny and slightly sad, and Deepika’s performance is great, it’s genuine and fresh,” he revealed.


“This is just her third film. And she’s remarkable, much better than I was in my third film. Our chemistry in the film is difficult to understand. Let the audience decide whether it’s there or not. The film’s shot in San Francisco, London, Kolkata, Patiala and Delhi. This is the first Hindi film to be shot in San Francisco. And I don’t think London’s ever been shot like this before. There’s no Big Ben, but there’s the Tube, Oxford Circus, the small back alleys, this is like how Ramu (Gopal Varma) would have shot Mumbai.”

You may look forward to the film, but Saif Ali Khan is looking forward to his next as producer, it’s called Agent Vinod... and, yes, it stars Kareena Kapoor — naturally! “I love the title, it may sound cheesy, but the plot is funky, it’s cool... a genuine espionage thriller, I play a RAW agent who saves the country from terrorism and a nuke threat,” he said. “It’s not a Bond film, there’s no Vodka Martini and that kind of vibe... nor really the John Le Carre story about a spy who came in from the cold because people would rather watch Jason Bourne now. But Agent Vinod is lethal, he’s dangerous and attractive... and I can’t wait for Kareena to be a part of the production! Your personal life does come before your career in many ways. Ask me — I know!”

Saif likes his lady love even in bikinis

There were rumors in the past that Chhote Nawab didn’t like her lady love Kareena Kapoor giving a skin show in her flicks and had insisted that Kareena chose Indian outfits at various public appearances, but now it has come out that just a two-piece outfit can’t cause cracks in Saifeena’s love story.

In fact, Saif did not like interfering in Kareena’s professional decisions either. It was only that Kareena loved to wear sarees at public functions and awards because it was her personal choice.

Moreover, another source in a media report goes on to allege that Saif was quite supportive of Kareena when she donned the swimwear while shooting for ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ in Los Angeles. In fact, whenever Kareena would glam up and appear on the sets, Saif (who flew to LA for a few days during the shoot) would whistle and tease her.

Ranbir overtakes Saif and Kareena by 18 crores

Two-film-old Ranbir Kapoor should be feeling quite proud of himself. The young actor’s latest film has a budget which exceeds Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s next film by 18 crores. Ranbir’s Wake Up Sid as well as Saif and Kareena’s Jehaad are both being produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

WAKE Up Sid is a romance set in Mumbai revolving around a good looking young man (Ranbir Kapoor) who falls for an older, simple woman (Konkona Sen Sharma), who is a writer from Kolkata. A source from the production team says, “The film’s budget was initially 80 crores but due to the recent market condition, it was reduced to 60 crores. Hopefully, the film will release in October this year.”

As for Renzil D'Silva’s Jehaad, starring Saif and Kareena, a source says that it has an estimated budget of 42 crores. The source adds, “The film, based on terrorism, revolves around an Indian woman (Kareena Kapoor) who marries and moves to the US. Later, she finds out that her husband is a part of a terrorist group. It will release this year.”

The news is surprising as Saif and Kareena are considered the hottest pair in Bollywood right now and they are the most expensive brand as a couple. In addition to this, Saif has appeared in 50 films and Ranbir’s cousin, Kareena, has done 38 films. But Dharma Productions doesn’t seem to think these are good enough reasons to splurge on Jehaad’s budget.

Rumours doing the rounds that establish Karan’s high hopes for Wake Up Sid are that he has given the distribution rights of the film to UTV Motion Pictures, making it an exception as all his previous films have always been distributed by Yash Raj.

‘Saifeena for Metro 2? ridiculous!’

Anurag Basu the director who shot to fame after making Life... In A Metro, has put an end to rumours about him casting Saifeena in a sequel to the movie. When BT contacted him, the director, who didn’t seem very pleased about the news, clarified, “I have no intention of making a sequel to Metro. In fact, I have shelved the project for good, so news of me approaching Saif and Kareena for it is ridiculous.”

Remind him that he had once been very keen to make a sequel to the movie and Anurag says, “Yes, we did announce it. But in the past two years, a few movies were made along the same lines with ensemble casts. So, we decided to put the idea of having a sequel to Metro on the back burner.”

The director, who has recently wrapped up the Barbara Mori- and Hrithik Roshan-starrer Kites, is, however, open to working with Saif and Kareena. “They’re wonderful people, but so far there is no specific story or film, in which I can cast them. However, Saif and I have met a couple of times to figure out what can we do together. That is also not easy considering that Saif now has his own production house,” says Anurag.

Who's performing at Amrita’s sangeet

Bollywood actress Amrita Arora’s getting married, you know, to Mumbai builder Shakeel Ladak, and guess who’s dancing at her sangeet on Thursday?

The bride-to-be’s best friend, Bollywood hottie Kareena Kapoor! Rehearsals for the big event are already on and Kareena, being Kareena, has also roped in Saif Ali Khan to shake a leg with her. Whether the Chotte Nawab, who is reticent in these matters, is a reluctant participant is not known. What is certain is that Kareena has him dancing to her tune at the sangeet!

Other star performers include Amrita’s sexy item girl sister Malaika Arora-Khan and husband Arbaaz, Malaika’s sister-in-law Alvira and her husband Atul Agnihotri, and Wardha Nadiadwala. Farah Khan, who else, will choreograph the numbers for the sangeet that have been selected from Amrita’s films but which are being kept a secret from her until the big night. However, Kareena will dance to a Golmaal song. And Arbaaz and make-up expert Mallika will dance to Kajra Re.

Meanwhile, the senior Aroras, Amrita and Malaika’s parents, are expected to lead the youngsters on the floor by putting on a show themselves to Disco 82! Most of Bollywood that is in Mumbai on Thursday is expected to attend the sangeet and then the reception the next day. And, to conclude the sangeet, all the guests will dance to It’s Rocking. The question being asked by friends attending the sangeet is what number will Salman bhai dance to!

Is Rensil’s film inspired by Arlington Road

Apparently, the Saif-Kareena starrer is inspired from 1999 thriller Arlington Road.

A source tells us, “So far it was known that both New York and Rensil’s D’Silva’s film were similar. However, both are loosely inspired from Arlington Road. The films will also remind people of Khuda Kay Liye as they are based on a similar subject, that of terrorism and of Muslims living in America and innocent Muslims being framed in the wake of 9/11.”

In Arlington Road, Michael Faraday (Jeff Bridges) is a widower, having lost his FBI agent wife. He has a 9 year old son. He is a specialist in American terrorism and becomes suspicious of his new neighbours, Oliver and Cheryl Lang (Tim Robbins and Joan Cusack) who he meets while taking his son to the hospital after a reported fireworks accident. Michael realizes that his neighbours are just not architects as they pretend to be and smells something fishy. He also figures out the stories they have been cooking about their identity. The Langs blackmail Michael’s girlfriend to join them. As Michael covers more evidence against them, no one is willing to believe his wild theories. In the end, after a series of events, he ends up becoming a victim of their plan as the Langs have planted a bomb in his car which blows up in a garage killing him and 185 other people. Michael is considered a terrorist, seeking revenge for his wife’s death. His son is orphaned and the Langs get away scot-free.

In Rensil’s film, Saif and Kareena play a Muslim couple who are terrorists living a double life. Vivek is the second lead in the film and he is also a terrorist. Minissha Lamba plays a journalist who is his love interest. Om Puri also has an important role in the film. Irrfan was approached to play the role of a terrorist in the film but he turned it down. What is to be seen is that will Saif and Kareena be killed in the end. Rensil who has written Rang De Basanti isn’t someone who adheres to happy endings as the four heroes died at the end of Rang De Basanti. The film, whose story is by Karan Johar, has been written by Anurag Kashyap. It is being filmed in London, Mumbai and Delhi and will release towards the end of this year.

I didn't ask for any explanation fom Bebo: Saif

Imtiaz Ali who has just directed Saif's untitled home production has offered Saif Ali Khan a chance to make his dream come true.He may soon have his own Rock On kind of musical film to play the lead. Divulges Saif excitedly, "It's a film called Rock Star. I don't know if I'm equipped to handle it. Rock music is about a lot of attitude. More than just playing with an attitude, it's way of thinking. I need to be more true to the music. It's easy to call any star a rock star. But I think it's more than your lifestyle. It's about being able to live your life the way you want." Saif wants to work on the attitude and the guitar before doing Rock Star. On Friday night Saif played the guitar for the charity concert for Bihar flood relief. He played the strings so hard his fingers were bleeding profusely afterwards. "It has never happened before. My fingers are seriously cut. This is a sign of how seriously I played the guitar. And if I was a seasoned player that wouldn't happen. So I want to pursue this seriously. As for my performance on Friday night I think of the two AC/DC songs 'Livewire' and 'A Whole Lot Of Rosie' I think I performed one really well the other not so well. But finally it was fine." Saif now intends to pursue guitar playing on a war scale.He owns two guitars and he intends to carry them with him to all his outdoor shootings to play during free hours. "I own two beautiful guitars …Fender Stratocaster(which Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton own) and a Gibson Lespaul which was gifted to me recently by the company's branch in India. I think I'll start using that. I want my guitar practice to go on side by side with the shooting. I will travel with my guitars." About the charity concert on Friday night Saif says, "It went really well. I'd rate my performance 7 out of 10. But I was floored by how well the Pentagram lead guitarist Randolph played, also Tushar who's done so much music for Yashraj Films…he played so well! In comparison I'm still learning to play the guitar. " Saif is honest in his self-assessment. "I seriously need to get out of the amateur player's zone. I love rock music. It's very liberating. It's the same feeling as when we all went dancing as a teenager. The guitar helps me let off steam. I want to play with a group of friends, jamming and enjoying myself without any care in the world. On Friday night I spoke to the other rock musicians. We've decided to play at some some smaller centres, colleges, etc." Finally no regrets about Kareena not being at the Friday night concert. "Work comes first. We both have to work, yaar. She doesn't even have to explain. Even my children weren't there on Friday. They're in Delhi. There was a huge turnout."
