A leading Hollywood studio is looking at remaking one of its popular films of 2009 in Hindi, for which it is taking a Bollywood producer’s help, and in which top actresses like Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Asin and Sonam Kapoor are being considered for the two leading roles.

The Hollywood film under consideration is the romantic comedy of this year — Bride Wars, starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. In its official Bollywood remake, the film will be one big fat Punjabi wedding with plenty of colour, song and dance, drama, fireworks, the whole nine yards.

Shrishti Behl — director Goldie’s sister, who produced Drona last year, is the Bollywood filmmaker contacted to work on this project. Confirming her participation, Shristi said, “The days of plagiarism are over. Official remakes are the way to go. And Bride Wars lends itself beautifully to an Indian adaptation.”

That it does, but there is likely to be a war among the six top contenders for the two roles in this film. The Hollywood studio, unmindful of the fact that these are the biggest names in Bollywood, is going to conduct a test look to pick their two actresses. Its worldwide production head Stanford Pinatch, talking to BT, said, “We’re trying to produce local-language films all over the world. We’re using the synergy between our distribution operations in all of these territories and tying up with the local production division. There is a shift in the market towards local content. It validates what we’re trying to achieve with these projects.”

Bride Wars, a regular chick flick if there was one, is about a good friendship between two women that goes dangerously bad. And, it will be interesting to see if real life good friends in Bollywood team up for the Hindi remake or the permutations and combinations throw up other alternatives.

The twosomes that come to mind are Katrina and Kareena; Priyanka and Kareena (Shahid Kapoor’s past and present loves, respectively); Asin and Katrina (Salman’s lady love and, well, his co-star who’s currently linked with him); and, Sonam and Deepika (in whose life the common factor is Ranbir Kapoor).

She demands seven costume changes instead of three for a music video for New York

Coco Chanel once said: 'Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.' Recently , Katrina Kaif made sure she got her way and did the latter. Katrina put her foot down and said that she needed seven changes of clothes for a music video in Yash Raj Films' New York. The incident in question happened at Yash Raj Studios, Andheri.

Initially, Aditya Chopra and choreographer Ahmed Khan had decided on three costume changes for Katrina. But keeping in mind her glamorous image, Katrina asked for four more.
When Ahmed reached the sets, Katrina told him that three changes wouldnt be sufficient. A surprised Ahmed did not agree with Katrinas demand. Moreover, he knew that he would have to inform Aditya Chopra before giving in to Katrinas wish. However, when Katrina politely told Ahmed that she would have it no other way he had no choice but to call Aditya who was busy in his office upstairs .

Aditya told Ahmed that he was okay with seven changes if the choreographer had no problem. Thereafter, Ahmed told Katrina that she could have what she wanted.
Once the green signal was given by Aditya, four additional costumes were arranged much to Katrinas delight.

Ahmed confirmed and said, Yes, Katrina wanted seven changes in the music video. I wasnt too excited with the idea initially, but when I saw the final result, I think she was right. The music video has worked out brilliantly.

However, I made it clear to Katrina that seven costume changes should not eat into the time of the shoot, and it didnt , he added.

Revealed a unit source, "While shooting for Ratan Jain's De Dana Dhan, the lead pair of the film Akshay and Katrina were to be shifted to luxurious seven star hotel. The reason being Akshay wanted a hotel which showed the IPL matches. Now Ratan Jain the big hearted producer that he is, decided to get his entire unit there and not make them feel left out." But finally somehow adjustments were made and the embarassing situation was brought to an end."

"This year I would like to allocate time to big films. The kind of films I am doing - 'Rajneeti' and 'Ajab Prem...' are a little more difficult. They need time and also a little more thought process, " Katrina told. The films are slated for release this year. In "Ajab Prem..." Katrina shares screen space with Ranbir Kapoor and Upen Patel, while in "Rajneeti" she stars alongside a bevy of actors including Ranbir, Ajay Devgan, Arjun Rampal, Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpai. Katrina says that Santoshi's dedication and "knack for making his actors win national awards" is something that makes her want to work hard for his film. "'Ajab Prem...' is a very different film. But the actress just decided to spurge on the unit members of Rajkumar Santoshi's ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani’. The buzz is that while shooting at Film City, Kat distributed as much as Rs 5 lakh among the unit members which included the technicians and spot boys. A source reveals, "After wrapping up the schedule, Katrina went into her vanity van and came out with bundles of notes and started distributing them among the unit members. She was in a happy mood and wanted to share her happiness with everyone." Katrina has reportedly acted on her instincts and while handing the money also thanked everyone personally. It’s being said that she was showing appreciation for the long hours, sometimes 16 hours at a stretch that the unit had put in and her way of saying thanks to as many as 300 people was calling them by their names and handing out the cash to each one personally. If director Rohit Shetty (of GOLMAAL RETURNS) had his way, Katrina Kaif would have been his leading lady for ALL THE BEST. An Ajay Devgan production, it already boasted of an enviable cast comprising of Ajay Devgan, Bipasha Basu and Sanjay Dutt. For Fardeen Khan, another male lead in the film, it's a sort of comeback and Katrina Kaif being roped into the film would have only added to the star quotient. Confirms a source on condition of anonymity, "Makers of the film were convinced that Katrina Kaif was just right for the role of this glamorous 20 something young woman. Since Rohit's films are always high on glamour quotient, Katrina would have been a welcome addition to the multi starrer." Narrating an interesting anecdote, he adds, "Also, it would have been a casting coup since Katrina has never worked with Fardeen before. However, she has shared screen space with his dad Feroz Khan in 'Welcome'. It seemed that she was set to play a role in the film." I've proved all my critics wrong: Katrina Kaif

Five years into Bollywood, Britain-born actress Katrina Kaif is proud that she could prove wrong all those people who wrote her off during her initial days in the industry. She is one of the few actresses who can boast of giving six hits in a row.

"When I started, people were not only writing me off for my strong British accent, there were many others who tried to prevent me from making it till here, " Katrina told in an interview here.

"They didn't do so in an aggressive or excessive manner, but they used to say things like 'I don't know...' and 'I'm not sure...' that would suggest a not-so-positive approach towards me. But I proved myself ultimately.

"I always try and push myself to exceed expectations. I use this ideology in a positive way, " she explained. 

Katrina was emphatic when she spoke of her belief in destiny. 

"The great thing about life is that you never know what can happen and there's no limitation to it. Someone can tell you that you can never be this and never be that. It's not true. Anyone can be what he wants to be and destiny plays a major part in it. God has of course been very kind to me.

"I believe that everyone should try and live their dreams, follow them and they might just come true someday, " Katrina said.

From her disastrous debut with "Boom" in 2003 to five hits in a row in 2007, the 24-year-old has not only worked hard on her acting skills, she has also shown a marked improvement in her Hindi dialogue delivery. 

Commenting on her improved accent, Katrina - born of a Kashmiri father and a British mother - said: "Interacting with various people on and off the sets and doing some eight Hindi movies, dealing with Hindi scripts, practising dialogue delivery... I think that in itself has taught me and helped me improve my accent."

Katrina is in the news nowadays for having delivered one box office dud "Yuvvraaj" after delivering six back-to-back hits including "Namastey London", "Apne", "Partner', "Welcome", "Race" and "Singh Is Kinng".

After so many hits, she was tagged as a lucky mascot for producers by trade pundits, but the actress is not pleased with the "lucky" label. 

"'Lucky mascot' doesn't make any sense. It is such an illogical statement. A successful film is a combination of a good director, good music, intelligent script, good timing, destiny, everybody's efforts and audience's reaction. There isn't a reason or an explanation that you can tag a person as lucky, " she remarked.

In her career, Katrina has predominantly dabbled in comedies, but she has lately "felt the need to progress a bit" and try her hand at different things.

"If you see Akshay Kumar, he was an action hero and then he went to comedy and found out his real calling. It took him to new heights of superstardom. I think it is important to take risks and figure out what really suits you. 

"Every actor has a strength like Aamir does romance and Akshay does comedy, but I don't know my strength yet. 

"If I get a contrast role in one film like where one get-up has me play a simple, shy and homely girl, the other has me as a brass and loud girl, I would definitely do that, " she said in an excited tone.

As of now, Katrina has a number of films in her kitty.

She is doing two films with Ranbir Kapoor including "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani" by Rajkumar Santoshi. She is also working with Prakash Jha on his multi-starrer "Rajniti".

These apart, she has one comedy film in hand and a two-film deal each with UTV and TV 18 respectively.

Ranbir Kapoor hits Katrina Kaif

Now this is going to makje Salman Khan very angry. According to a latest buzz, Katrina Kaif recently got hit on the face by Ranbir Kapoor, of course unintentionally, on the sets of a Rajkumar Santoshi film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.

The incident happened on Monday evening when the stars were shooting a chase sequence. “An elaborate set was created at Madh Island and it was a chase sequence where Ranbir and Katrina were supposed to be running away from some goons.

All was fine till the point where Ranbir needed to suddenly turn around. He did that but in the bargain hit Katrina’s nose with his hand and the delicate actress went tumbling to the ground. She was in great pain but realised that it was unintentional, so she didn’t complain,” says a member of the crew.

The director had to cancel the shooting as they had to seek medical attention for injured Kat. The next day, too, Santoshi did not shoot the film but used the free time to do some decoration on the sets.

But times are changing now 2008 has been a year where our heroines have done full fledged meaty roles and on the basis of their hits and misses we analyise the top 5 bollywood actresses of 2008. Katrina Kaif - Her first release of the year was Race-an Abbas Mastaan thriller with lots of enjoyable twists and turns. Katrina is paired with Akshaye khanna, while Saif and Bipasha are aso there in the cast. Katrina plays the soft decent cute secretary of Saif who adores Saif and is with him through thick and thin and how in the climax turns out to be the bad mans fiancee and how she backstabs Saif. This film did really well in the boxoffice and was said to be a hit. her next film was Singh is King which was a super hit in the box office and Katrina is paired with Akshay kumar and inspite of the story revolving around a punjabi villager who comes to town and all the misadventours that happen and he ends up to become the Australian underworld king, Katrina's role is worth a watch. Her third film of the year was Hello where she is paired opposite her beau Salman in the entire film her role was only for a few minutes. So it was her guest appearance in the film and the film too dint do well in the box office. Katrina's fourth and the last film of this year was Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj where again she is seen with Salman in the film. Anil Kapoor and Zayed are also included in the cast. Katrina gave a good performance but the film in all did not do well. So Katrina managed to get two hits and two flops in the year. Kareena Kapoor - Started her year 2008 with Tashan which did not do well in the boxoffice.The film was produced by Aditya Chora and Yash Chopra under Yash Raj films. Akshay, Anil, Kareena and Saif were appreciated for their performances. The film was not for intellectuals or for people looking for a perfect script, as it was nothing new. Kareena looked glamourous in a bikini. On the day of its release, the film opened to a 75-80% response but well short of the expected bumper opening due to the multiplex revenue sharing problem, which didn't allow the film to be released in major multiplexes across India. Due to this, the film lost a major chunk of its revenue. Then came in Roadside romeo the first major computer animated film.The title character, a dog living in the city of Mumbai is voiced by Saif and his girlfriend, Laila, is voiced by Kareena. The story was about a rich dog who was abandoned on the streets of Mumbai and all the difficulties and all the dangerous characters he comes across. This film again opened with a poor response and dint do well in the boxoffice.Kareena's third and last film of the year was Golmaal Returns which was a remake of an old Bollywood comedy. Kareena plays the role of a suspicious wife of Ajay Devgan who hapens to spend one whole night out of the house with Celina Jaitely just to help her from some bad people. To hide this fact from his wife all the stories that he has to cook and all the difficulties that happen then is actually the story of the film.The film did really well and was a super hit and inspite of Kareena not having a meaty role in it she still managed to get a hit in her kitty. Priyanka Chopra -This actress has given the maximum number of release in 2008. Her first release is Love Story 2050 where she is paired opposite Harman Baweja, it was a mega budget special effects film.Priyanka's performance was not appreciated and the film crashed badly at the box office. Her next one was God Tussi Great ho opposite Salman Khan. The film was a remake of the Hollywood film Bruce Almighty.Where Salman challenges God and in return God comes down to Earth and asks him to take up his job and all the mess that happens after that. The film did not make news in the box office. This was followed by Chamku, the story of a shooter Bobby Deol and how he falls in love with Priyanka and his life changes after that.Priyanka's performance was appreciated but the film failed in the box office.Then came Drona a contemporary fantasy fable. The film was a horrific disaster. Then came Priyanka's two most awaited films of the year Fashion and Dostana.In both the films priyanka has acted brilliantly. In Fashion she plays a small town girl who comes to the city of dreams to fulfill her dreams and for that she has to pay a heavy price. In Dostana she plays a funfilled light character of being friends to John and Abhishekh.Both the films did really well in the box office giving Priyanka her much awaited hits. Rani Mukherji - Had just one film which was Thoda Pyar thoda Magic where Rani plays the role of a childlike, mischeivious, lovable angel who comes to the rescue of four orphans and their dad.The film was directed by Kunal Kohli but he was still unable to create the magic of Hum Tum.It did not do well in the box office. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - This year Aishwarya came up with two releases Sarkar Raj and Jodhaa Akbar. In Jodhaa Akbar she was opposite Hritik Roshan. A romantic, biographical and historical movie, which was set in a era of revolt, conspiracies and war.Aishwarya looked and acted brilliantly in the film.The film did good business in India and very good buisness in the overseas. Her second flick Sarkar Raj was opposite hubby Abhishekh Bachan.It also got her critical acclaim apart from box office success. After the entire analysis of all the five actresses we come to the conclusion that Katrina Kaif is on the top of the list with two hits in a row and two flops, then in the second position its Priyanka Chopra with two hits and four flops and then its Aishwarya Rai with one hit and one flop followed by Kareena who has two flops and one hit and then comes Rani with only one release and that to a flop.
